Yorktown Onions

Finally managed to get down to Yorktown when the onions were in bloom.  Legend has it the onion seeds spilled off the wagon as they were transported from ships docked in Yorktown to the market in Williamsburg.  This particular onion is a old European variety and this is the only place it now grows.  I think the color combo with the grass, the sky and the York river is heavenly.

Thank you! I was very lucky to be in the right place at the right time -- I think this is the first time I've been in Yorktown when the onions were blooming!
